Swansea Hotels and Swansea Accommodation
(Swansea, West Glamorgan, Wales, UK)
Swansea has plenty of accommodation with many of its hotels falling into the middle or lower end of the price range. These days, most accommodation on offer in Swansea has en suite bathrooms of some description and in general, the more you pay, the more you get for your money.
The hotel and restaurant industry in Swansea makes up around 25% of the city's overall economy and this gives a clear indication of how much money is invested in the region's accommodation industry. Swansea is always full of action and many business people frequent the city during the week, meaning that some weekend breaks are often available. In general and rather predictably, Swansea's hotels are at their most expensive during the summer months, when the city is at its busiest.
Swansea Hotels and Accommodation: Where to Stay - Swansea, West Glamorgan, Wales, UK
Hotels are available bang in the very heart of Swansea, close to the shops and nightspots, while away from the crowds, guesthouses in the city's suburbs are exceptionally good value for money and just a short drive, taxi ride or bus journey away. Some of the best guesthouses in Swansea can be found along Oystermouth Road. The strip stands next to the seafront and whilst there is a good selection here, most of the guesthouses are very similar, with regards to both price and facilities. Popular hotels and guesthouses along Oystermouth Road include the Oyster Hotel, the Bayswater and the Oystercatcher Hotel, where rooms overlooking the seafront itself are the most sought-after.
Further hotels in the city stand in the rather more sophisticated neighbourhood of the Uplands, which is located approximately 1.5 km / 1 mile to the west of central Swansea. Here you will find many attractive Edwardian and Victorian style guesthouses, with many boasting period features. In particular, the Crescent Guest House along Eaton Crescent is worth considering and is a large Edwardian townhouse, with a number of guest rooms overlooking Swansea Bay.
Those looking for luxury accommodation in Swansea should be sure to stay at the Morgan's Hotels on Somerset Place. This grand five-star hotel stands in the 1902 Port Authority building and features a rather ornate stained-glass dome, wood panelling and rather extravagant decor throughout.
